I am in exam hell rn. Two down two to go. I am failing thermodynamics I have already accepted this, but we are gonna crush quantum I reckon. I say this as I sit in Chifley not studying for it lol.
I completed (kinda, but handed in) my theoretical quantum mechanics assignment. In the holidays I will make a post explaining it, it's maybe the most interesting assignment I have ever done. It's talking about something called non-Hermitian quantum mechanics, and about non-real potentials. I am pretty proud of it even though the assignment was less polished than I would have wanted.
I am working on a movie prop with Felix, a device that has a microphone and small 8x8 led display. The display reacts to the sound from the microphone, and displays the frequency information in your voice. You can see the difference between speaking in a low voice and speaking in a higher pitch voice. It is actually so cool. I'll put a link to the video up soon.
The short of it is a microcontroller reads the microphone data 100,000 times per second, and then performs a fast fourier transform. A fourier transform takes in a time domain signal (the loudness of sound changing over time) and extracts the frequency information from it (how loud each frequency is). It updates the display with a delay of about 10ms which according to google is about the limit of human delay perception, and it looks pretty instantaneous to my eyes. The prototype is gorgeous, but we will be making a nice enclosure for it as it is a movie prop after all.
I am about to go 3D print a model rocket for Remi, I made a quick model in fusion. I am not actually sure what it's for other than some kind of art. Building shit for my friends is actually so much fun.
I bought a fridge. Well, half a fridge. So now I am officially a fridge owner (hello generational wealth).
My washing has been on the line for about a week now. Nothing like a good bit of rain to get something truly clean.
Anyway I should go and 3D print this thing now, and further procrastinate. Maybe I will write some python code to generate the html for the website for me.
